Trump nominees approved, including key judiciary appointment

This was a big week for Donald Trump for appointments, particularly two key administration appointments that will clearly help him push his agenda forward.

For Trump, however, I would wager there was no appointment more satisfying than Emil Bove’s judiciary confirmation.

Energy

Aside from immigration, the biggest agenda issue for Trump is energy.

Energy has a butterfly effect on so many other aspects of the administration, including the economy, that it has to be a top priority, and that means having Trump’s people in place in every key role.

Trump just added another piece of that puzzle with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) now officially being led by David A. Wright.

Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chair Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) took a victory lap, stating, "Achieving this will require experienced and highly qualified Commissioners who are empowered to lead the Agency through a period of high expectations. Well, David Wright meets that mark."

CDC

What was the most controversial issue in Trump’s first term? COVID, of course, and now Trump has his people in place there as well.

With RFK Jr. running HHS, Trump now also has the head of the CDC in place, who was actually hand-picked by Kennedy.

I still wonder how this will work, though, as Susan Monarez is very much in favor of vaccines, the complete opposite of Kennedy.

Trump is pretty excited about them teaming up, however, stating, "Dr. Monarez will work closely with our GREAT Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy Jr. Together, they will prioritize Accountability, High Standards, and Disease Prevention to finally address the Chronic Disease Epidemic and, MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN!"

The judiciary

There has not been a more controversial appointment thus far than Emil Bove to the appellate court, and I would include the appointments of people like Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard, and Pete Hegseth in that conversation.

Bove was ruthless as Trump’s attorney, seeking out every possible loophole to help his client, and that is not sitting well with Democrats, who have called him a “Trumpian,” as well as having foul-mouthed rants and walking out of the committee in protest.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), however, is very confident, stating, "He has a strong legal background and has served his country honorably. I believe he will be a diligent, capable, and fair jurist.”

Bove is a brilliant attorney, clearly on the conservative side, but I also happen to think he will be a good judge. I don’t think Grassley would have pushed him through otherwise.
