Mamdani’s vow to declare war on charter schools has parents angry
Of all the figures in politics right now, aside from Donald Trump, the two most polarizing would have to be Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani wants to turn New York City into a socialist haven, and new reports are popping up all over the place that are hopefully going to deter New Yorkers from electing him to office.
The latest being his alleged war on charter schools, which is creating panic among parents in the city.
Be Careful
New York City’s mayoral election usually gets some national attention due to the nature of the city, but not like this.
After he was elected to the Democrat ticket, Trump went after him, putting him on notice about interfering with ICE operations.
Trump stated, “He needs the money through the White House. He needs a lot. He will behave. He better behave. Otherwise, he will have big problems.”
When Trump was asked a bit more about the election, he added, “Who knows? We don’t know who the mayor is going to be yet. But this a communist — he’s not a socialist, he is a communist. And he said some really bad things about Jewish people, and he said some really bad things about a lot of people.”
The Cuomo Call
There is clearly no love lost between Trump and Mamdani, but Trump has also been very critical of Mamdani’s strongest opponent, that being former Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo lost the primary, but he is now running as an independent, having the best chance against Mamdani, although he is trailing now.
Trump reportedly called Cuomo, to which Mamdani responded, “The job of mayor is not to audition to be the jester for a want-to-be king. New Yorkers do not want a mayor who is working in tandem with the president to subvert the will of the people of New York City.”
Al Sharpton, who is backing Mamdani, also commented, “It’s a gift with a bow on it. If I were running for mayor the last person I would want supporting me is Donald Trump. If I were Mamdani I’d say, ‘A vote for my opponent is a vote for Trump.'”
Declaring War
In a questionnaire prior to the Democrat primary race, Mamdani, on the subject of charter schools, stated, “I oppose efforts by the state to mandate an expansion of charter school operations in New York City.”
Based on the reaction to his answer, I am thinking most parents in New York City did not read his answer. For example, the mother of a 10-year-old student at a NYC charter school stated, “I don’t understand why Mamdani would be hostile to charter schools. I think he’s very misinformed.”
The mother continued, “Charter schools are helping kids in the community. You should always have a choice. Taking that choice away is not cool.”
They'd better start reading up on this guy because he wants to turn New York City into a giant commune where the government controls everything, including grocery stores. Sadly, this is far too common in this country when it comes to voters vetting candidates. Most Americans simply pull the handle for “D” or “R,” never really paying attention to policy. If they do that in November in New York City, we are going to be turning over one of the biggest cities in this country to a socialist, and yes, that concerns me.
