Is Musk making a comeback to the GOP?

I have been adamant that if the GOP has any chance of defying history and holding the House in this midterm election, it will need Musk’s money.

After the Musk-Trump feud, that did not look like it would happen.

However, Musk appears to be making nice with Vice President Vance, the clear heir apparent to MAGA.

It’s Over

The breakup between Trump and Musk was both silly and predictable.

Two alpha males attempting to work together, both of whom were used to calling the shots, never leads to a happy conclusion.

When they went after each other, as often happens with Trump, it was in the open arena, where everyone could see their dirty laundry, and both decided to fling insults at each other.

Musk eventually decided to kill it, stating, “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump  last week. They went too far.”

The Threat

Amid that feud, Musk promised to start a new third party that would take on the establishment.

However, he seemed to back off on that fairly quickly, even though I thought he had a very sound strategy to make it happen.

It was later reported by the Wall Street Journal that Musk had killed the idea, but Musk pushed back, responding, "Nothing [The Journal] says should ever be thought of as true.”

Even so, we have heard nothing about it, but we have seen him try to cozy up to Vance, which is the smart move if he wants back in.

Hey, Buddy

Musk and Trump have not fully made up, and they don't need to, as long as they can be in the same room together. The future is Vance, as far as the GOP is concerned, and it sure looks to me like Musk is trying to work the VP.

Vance recently posted to X, "The big lie the Democrats told about violent crime is that it's ‘systemic’ and therefore no one's really responsible. If the ‘system’ is to blame then you fund a bunch of nonprofits that don't do anything besides give jobs to underqualified radicals. The reality is that the gross majority of violent crime is committed by a very small group of people and we should be throwing them in prison."

Musk responded, “Yes. What it comes down to is this: Do you have more sympathy for those highly likely to commit murder or more for those at risk of being murdered? If the former, you are a disgusting human being and yet so many on the radical left choose this!”

Vance has denied that these two have had any conversations, but the whispers out there say that Elon has been working with Vance to plot a strategy for 2028. Again, not confirmed, just whispers, and Vance would never admit this right now anyway. Vance cannot make a move until he gets Trump’s blessing, but when he does, I expect to see some big announcements from Musk.
