Hegseth draws the fitness line for generals and flag officers
During the last two Democrat administrations, woke became a priority over battlefield readiness. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth just called all his general and flag officers to Quantico to remind them that the agenda for the military has changed.
He even challenged them, meet my standard or resign… It’s that simple.
Going woke
This big push of a woke military really started to take effect during Obama’s second term.
The Heritage Foundation reported, “In 2015, then Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus rejected out of hand a Marine Corps study concluding that gender-integrated combat formations did not move as quickly or shoot as accurately, and that women were twice as likely as men to suffer combat injuries. He rejected it because it did not comport with the Obama administration’s political agenda."
A legit study, but it was rejected for political reasons. Boy, does that sound familiar.
I don’t care if you are a man or a woman… You should be able to meet a set standard if you are going to be put in harm’s way. Remember, this is not about the individual soldier, but that soldier’s ability to fight for the person beside them. There can be only one standard.
Austin goes woke
General Lloyd Austin was an exceptional soldier with a stellar record, but that was as an active general. As the Secretary of Defense, he was a total disaster.
As someone who earned the Silver Star for Valor, one would think Austin would realize that certain standards cannot be compromised. If you want to lower the standard for entry for a clerk, so be it, but lowering standards for battle readiness is playing a dangerous game.
Sadly, under Austin’s leadership, many of the physical standards were lowered simply so Biden and company could say they had more women in the ranks.
But imagine how soldiers felt seeing some overweight or weak soldier, male or female, being deployed with them to an active war zone.
It’s a new day
When Hegseth announced his meeting, there was a big buzz because nobody knew what the topic was going to be. When Hegseth took the stage, he broke the news without pulling any punches.
He told the commanding generals and admirals, "If the words I’m speaking today are making your heart sink, then you should do the honorable thing and resign. We would thank you for your service. But I suspect the overwhelming majority of you feel the opposite. These words make your hearts full."
From this point forward, there will be one standard, and even general and flag officers will be forced to meet that standard. Hegseth added, "If women can make it, excellent. If not, it is what it is. Weak men won’t qualify either. We’re not playing games."
Now, my regular readers know I am not exactly a fan of Hegseth, but I fully support this agenda. I have several family members who serve, one who is getting deployed to what could be a war zone very soon if the Russia-Ukraine war is not settled, and I would feel far more comfortable knowing they have the best of the best behind them rather than someone who checked a box. In this case, Hegseth knocked it out of the park.
