House Democrat hit with ethics complaint
I know this will come as a big surprise, but yet another Democrat has been hit with a huge ethics complaint for a violation of the Stock Act.
The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) has alleged that Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.) did not disclose his financial transactions properly.
The bad news for Dems is that Suozzi is not the only Democrat making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Lock Them Up
Trump’s DOJ has been in overdrive trying to land cases against people who wronged Trump.
Democrats are calling this political revenge, but some of these cases look very solid.
The one case that I really wanted to pan out was the case against New York Attorney General Letitia James, but that appears to have fallen apart.
Prosecutors have been working with a grand jury for months, but they have yet to secure an indictment. Of all the cases, that is one that Pam Bondi and the DOJ cannot afford to crash and burn. If they fail to get an indictment, there will be real-world consequences.
An Illegal Immigrant
One of the bigger stories of the week was a superintendent in the Iowa school system being apprehended by ICE.
Now, illegals are not supposed to be employed, but he was in a position of authority in the school system.
After the fact, it came out that Ian Andre Roberts also had gun charges against him in 2020 and had an order for removal placed against him in 2024, yet he somehow managed to land a superintendent position.
The cherry on the sundae here is that he was an active registered voter, so I am really going to need someone to tell me how he managed to dodge all the safeguards of our immigration system.
Not Reporting
Suozzi, according to FACT, purchased Treasury bills but did not report them in a timely manner, allegedly a year after he was supposed to have reported them.
The complaint stated, “While any violation of this law is serious, this case is even more so given that Suozzi has failed to file periodic transaction reports for hundreds of stock transactions in the past and appeared hostile to his duty to do so while being investigated.”
The statement continued, “Thus, it is clear Suozzi has extensive knowledge of the law and his duty to comply with it, but despite his prior assurances to adhere to it, he is not.”
This is why I think we really need to look at replacing Ethics Committees with a form of real discipline, or make standard penalties for violations such as this. We all know the committee will do nothing more than slap him on the wrist, as they are just as corrupt as he is. Far too often, these violations get nothing more than a warning. Even when they are disciplined, it is nothing more than a censure. Which is why they never follow the rules.
