PBS and NPR doing just fine without Trump’s federal funding

Does everyone remember the fearmongering by Democrats over Trump’s desire to cut federal funding from NPR and PBS? The media basically called it the end of the free press in this country, and Democrats touted the idea that both outlets would have to shut down.

Well, the funding has ceased, and both NPR and PBS are doing just fine.

Cutting the funding

I listened to NPR for the first time in my life after Trump announced the funding cut, and I could not believe how the stories were being framed.

This was worse than CNN or MSNBC, in my opinion, and more like a far-left talk show, as the framing was just blatantly anti-Trump, even for reports that really should not have been politicized in any way.

I then understood why Trump wanted federal funding cut, having been right on point, stating, "Neither entity presents a fair, accurate or unbiased portrayal of current events to tax-paying citizens.

“The CPB Board shall cancel existing direct funding to the maximum extent allowed by law and shall decline to provide future funding."

The fearmongering

As soon as the announcement was made, the fearmongering in the mainstream media started.

For instance, CNN reported, “Over time, some local stations may be forced off the air, while other stations may have fewer shows to broadcast. Stations may have fewer resources for news reporting and educational programming.”

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) added, “Trump and his unelected billionaire sidekick Elon Musk want to defund public broadcasting, gutting critical sources of news that provide free, unbiased reporting, educational and arts programming, and critical emergency broadcasting. This abandonment of a free and independent press is just plain wrong. I’ll fight like hell to oppose these cuts.”

The fact of the matter is that while PBS appeared a bit better than NPR, there was clearly a dominant liberal message being pushed, and I don’t believe any taxpayer funding should be used for biased coverage, period, and I would say the same thing if these outlets were pushing conservative ideals. News from these outlets needs to be unbiased and truthful, not twisted, and that is what we were getting.

It Turns Out…

So, as it turns out, all that federal money was nothing more than a safety net, as NPR and PBS are ticking along just fine, but they are also proving our point about biased coverage.

For instance, on Facebook, NPR posted, “WE WON’T BE SILENCED.” This was clearly working off the narrative being pushed that Trump is weaponizing the government to remove all opposing voices.

Other NPR and PBS personalities had posted online, and while I won’t waste your time with their posts, the overwhelming narrative was anti-Trump and anti-censorship, all from the same people who celebrated Trump being suspended from Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.

There will be plenty of money from liberal billionaires to keep both of these outlets afloat, so it turns out our money was never needed. Billions of taxpayer dollars flushed down the tubes over just the last decade, as Trump has once again been proven right… They never needed the money in the first place. This, to me, is tantamount to fraud. It was just another money funnel for Democrats to exploit, nothing more.
