Trump peace plan draws unexpected praise from Hillary Clinton
Last week, the biggest story of the news cycle was Trump securing peace between Israel and Hamas.
Far too many Democrats failed to give Donald Trump any credit in the deal, very carefully crafting responses that did not even mention his name.
Shockingly, Hillary Clinton was not one of them.
The Deal
The deal was announced late Wednesday by Donald Trump, and it just about broke the internet.
Trump posted, "I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.
“All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!"
There is no way anyone should downplay the fact that Trump led this effort, and without the pressure he put on Israel, this deal never would have happened.
Barack Obama
As a leader of the Democrat Party, Barack Obama had a real opportunity for a bipartisan unity moment, and he chose to pass.
After the deal was announced, he posted to social media, “After two years of unimaginable loss and suffering for Israeli families and the people of Gaza, we should all be encouraged and relieved that an end to the conflict is within sight; that those hostages still being held will be reunited with their families; and that vital aid can start reaching those inside Gaza whose lives have been shattered.
“More than that, though, it now falls on Israelis and Palestinians, with the support of the U.S. and the entire world community, to begin the hard task of rebuilding Gaza – and to commit to a process that, by recognizing the common humanity and basic rights of both peoples, can achieve a lasting peace.”
Would it have killed him to thank Trump for helping to broker the deal and being a driving force behind it? Sadly, this was typical of the responses we saw from Democrats on the peace deal
Hillary Clinton
Of all the people I would have expected to compliment Trump, rest assured, Hillary would not have been on that list.
However, she surprised everyone, stating, “I really commend President Trump and his administration, as well as Arab leaders in the region for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what’s often called the day after.
“It’s going to take a lot of work. It’s going to take a lot of coordination.”
I have to give Hillary her props for openly giving Trump credit on this and bucking the party line. I cannot help but laugh at the number of far-left Democrats, including the Squad, who have been clamoring about a cease-fire, and now that Trump secured it, they are all as quiet as mice.
