Fetterman pushes back on Newsom being a moderate
Even though Kamala Harris is still among the Democrat leaders for the 2028 nomination, California Governor Gavin Newsom is the one who is making the biggest move in polling.
Newsom has been burning the candle at both ends, however, trying to appeal to moderate voters while putting policies in place that are catering to the far left.
Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) had no problem calling him out over this.
Pushing Newsom the Moderate
The CalMatters.Org website is really pushing the idea that Newsom is a moderate and not part of this far-left movement that is sweeping through the Democrat Party.
In a recent report on the site, it claimed, “In what may come as a surprise to both California Republicans and the governor himself, Gavin Newsom might just be one of the most moderate Democrats in the Capitol.”
But let’s not forget, while the site is touting Newsom as a moderate, this is someone who has supported many aspects of the far-left agenda.
For instance, he backed sanctuary status, and even more damning is his gerrymandering proposal as well as the legislation passed to try to unmask ICE agents operating in the state.
Not Really
On the flip side of that is Slate.com, which offers a more realistic take on Newsom’s policies.
Part of this little act by Newsom is his new podcast, where he has opened the floor to conservatives. In fact, Charlie Kirk was one of his first guests, as was former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.
Marisa Lagos, a political correspondent at KQED who has covered Newsom for two decades, stated, “I gather that this might be an attempt to paint his way out of the corner of being a California liberal.”
Newsom has also stolen virtually every move that Trump made to win the 2024 campaign, trying to make it his own, right down to how he posts on social media.
The Internet is Forever
Democrats have been attacking Fetterman for backing certain Trump policies and not holding the party line on all fronts, and he is now returning the favor by dropping a truth bomb about Newsom.
He stated, “Everyone’s going to go into the middle. But people [forget] that the Internet exists and all of the clips and all of the outlandish things that they’ve said or they’ve done, that’s going to have about 20 or 30 million dollars that can pound you for those things.
“So, it’s like, for all of the things that you say right now or the things now, you want to pander or monetize faux outrage now, you’re going to pay when you actually have to run in an election that you’re accountable, when you actually have Republicans and Democrat[s] and you have a purple situation where you have to find a way forward. And that’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do here during my time here in the Senate.”
I would wager there are communications teams throughout the GOP who are putting together taps right now to push back against any claims Newsom tries to make. The man is a snake, and I have a feeling we will all be going to war with his campaign in about two years.
