California revokes 17,000 commercial licenses
Over the last few months, there have been reports after report about an illegal immigrant truck driver causing an accident.
This has put a huge focus on where they are getting their licenses, and from most of the reports I have read, they are coming from blue states, California in particular, as well as Washington state.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that there were 17,000 licenses that needed to be revoked. After some initial pushback, Governor Newsom finally revoked them.
Migrant Truckers
I would imagine that in most cases, the truckers were here legally, then overstayed their visa, but somehow had managed to keep their licenses.
But we have been seeing a huge rash of accidents involving illegals, so now it is in the national spotlight.
To that point, a recent report showed that one illegal had failed the CDL test 10 times in just two months.
That same individual caused an accident that wound up killing three people.
Caught Red-handed
Secretary Duffy had called out California for the licenses that were still illegally in play and demanded that Newsom revoke the licenses.
As I mentioned above, initially, Newsom pushed back, or I should say his office pushed back, because Newsom is in Brazil right now.
Secretary Duffy stated, “This is just the tip of the iceberg.
“My team will continue to force California to prove they have removed every illegal immigrant from behind the wheel of semitrucks and school buses.”
Revoked
California finally did the right thing and revoked all the licenses pointed to by Duffy, with Duffy responding, “After weeks of claiming they did nothing wrong, Gavin Newsom and California have been caught red-handed. Now that we’ve exposed their lies, 17,000 illegally issued trucking licenses are being revoked.”
The Newsom administration fired back, “Once again, Sean ‘Road Rules’ Duffy fails to share the truth — spreading easily disproven falsehoods in a sad and desperate attempt to please his dear leader.”
Another source stated that the licenses were not issued to illegals, but that they had been granted work authorizations from the government.
These days, you have no idea who is telling the truth, but I am just glad our roads were made safer. With all these accidents that have been happening, I won’t lie… I was getting nervous on the road whenever I came near a trucker. At least now, we know they are actually monitoring the situation. But my God… 17,000 people illegally on the road. That is just insane.
