Swalwell reported subject of mortgage fraud probe by DOJ

Donald Trump and Democrats have been at war since Trump came down that escalator.

After leaving office in 2021, Democrats swore that if he got back into office, he would go on a revenge tour, which Trump denied.

Now, another former Trump adversary, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), found out he is the subject of a mortgage fraud investigation, but this one has an interesting twist to it.

Swalwell and January 6

After the January 6 riot, Swalwell was among the Democrats who tried to have Trump removed from office via the 14th Amendment, which involves insurrection.

He testified during the hearings, having stated, “We connected the president’s tweets to our own safety in the chamber and also the integrity of the proceedings taking place.”

His point was that he believed the rioters were taking their cues from Trump’s posts on X.

During a subsequent interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, he stated, “I thought it was one of the safest places, one of the most heavily fortified places in the world. That’s one of the most unsettling things about the day. It is such a sacred, symbolic, and fortified space. I am still in disbelief.”

The Epstein Files

Fast forward to the Epstein flies, and Swalwell has been an antagonist on this front, specifically when he got FBI Director Kash Patel in the hot seat.

After significant back and forth on the issue, Patel went off on Swalwell, responding, "Your fixation on this matter and baseless accusations that I'm hiding child pedophiles is disgusting.”

The two men continued to bicker on the subject, with Patel being very coy with his answers.

Eventually, Swalwell told him that his "evasiveness" was a "consciousness of guilt."

Criminal Investigation

Mortgage fraud has become the crime of choice for the DOJ to take down Democrats, as there are multiple investigations open on this front, and now Swalwell has been added to that list.

Prior to the investigation being announced, Swalwell poked Trump over the recent release of some of the Epstein files, posting to X, “If Trump had sex with an underaged girl, should he still be our President?”

That was made on November 12, and on November 13, it was revealed that Swalwell was under investigation for mortgage fraud. He responded, "As the most vocal critic of Donald Trump over the last decade and as the only person who still has a surviving lawsuit against him, the only thing I am surprised about is that it took him this long to come after me.”

We all know how the optics on this are going to play out, as the media and Democrats are going to call this revenge on the part of Trump. It will never be entertained that Swalwell actually did something wrong because of the optics. Sadly, optics are far more important than facts these days.
