Pelosi tries to clarify her Trump ‘worst thing’ statement

Last week, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called Trump a “vile creature” and the “worst thing” on the face of the earth.

She was on CNN this weekend, where she told Anderson Cooper that it was a “euphemism” and she could have done much worse.

Then she and Cooper had a little giggle, with Cooper even asking her if she wanted to use a stronger adjective to describe the president.

Firing Venom

Listen, I get why people go after Trump. I mean, it was only this week when he called a female reporter “Piggy” and threatened to pull ABC News’ license because he was asked a question he did not like.

Even so, two wrongs don’t make a right.

Trump has always responded to venom with more venom, and that is how all this name-calling got started.

Pelosi and Democrats were hitting Trump hard right out of the gate, and it has brought us to a point where the rhetoric is now at level 10, and nobody wants to back off.

Worst Thing

To that point, during a recent interview, Pelosi was going off on Trump, stating, "He’s just a vile creature, the worst thing on the face of the earth.”

CNN’s Elex Michaelson asked her if she really meant that, and she responded, "I do, yeah, I do.”

NRCC National War Room director Ben Petersen responded, "More dehumanizing Democrat language about Republicans.”

Piers Morgan also commented, stating, "FFS… this is so absurd. Worse than Hamas terrorists? Iranian mullahs? Putin? Jong-Un? Democrat dinosaurs like Pelosi don’t know anything but over-demonising Trump. It’s why they’re polling so badly."

Round 2

Pelosi was given another chance to explain by Anderson Cooper this weekend, asking Pelosi, "One of the things you said recently in an interview, you said that President Trump was a vile creature, the worst thing on the face of the Earth. Do you think he‘s different now than he was in his first term in terms of his abilities, his leadership?"

While laughing, she responded, "By the way, I said that as a euphemism. I could have done much worse."

Well, if you meant it as a euphemism, why did you not clarify that the first time you said it when you were asked if you really meant it? But what got to me was the laughter from her and Cooper, because it’s all a game to them.

Listen, I have never defended Trump’s name-calling, as I think it is very immature and utterly ridiculous, to be honest. I think we need our politicians to be grown-ups, not WWE characters, but that is how it has devolved over the years. It’s become theater to see who gets the most likes, clicks, and shares on social media, and you don’t make headlines these days by acting like an adult.
