Rep. Crockett called out by ‘The View’ over Epstein stunt
You know you crossed the line as a Democrat when “The View” calls you out.
This week, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) tried to get herself another 15 minutes by blasting Republicans who took money from Jeffrey Epstein.
The problem… the Epsteins (there were at least two different people) who donated to their campaigns was not “the” Jeffrey Epstein who had been texting with Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-V.I.) when Michael Cohen was in the hot seat before Congress.
Just Wrong
Crockett was being overly dramatic in her speech, continuing the ridiculous personality she has adopted since winning her seat in Congress.
She stated, “Folks show also took from somebody named Jeffrey Epstein, as I had my team dig into very quickly, Mitt Romney, the NRCC, Lee Zeldin, George Bush, WinRed McCain-Palin, and Rick Lazio.”
Her team should have done more research, because the Jeffrey Epstein who donated to these campaigns was a completely different Jeffrey Epstein. Actually, as noted above, there were at least two different Jeffrey Epsteins.
What made this speech even worse is that Crockett told the Republicans in the House she was going to expose it all, but there really was nothing to expose.
Doubling Down
Crockett could have come clean when she went on CNN with Kaitlyn Collins, but she just dug herself a deeper hole.
During the interview with Collins, she stated, “Listen, I never said that it was that Jeffrey Epstein. Just so that people understand, when you make a donation, your picture is not there. And because they decided to spring this on us, in real time, I wanted the Republicans to think about what could potentially happen, because I knew that they didn’t even try to go through the [Federal Election Commission].”
Crockett continued, “So my team, what they did is they Googled, and that is specifically why I said a Jeffrey Epstein. Unlike Republicans, I at least don’t go out and just tell lies. Because it was not the same one? That’s fine. But when Lee Zeldin had something to say, all he had to say was, it was a different Jeffrey Epstein. He admitted that he did receive donations from a Jeffrey Epstein. So, at least I wasn’t trying to mislead people … I literally had maybe 20 minutes before I had to do that debate.”
Well, your job is to make sure you come to the floor with facts, not fiction. She wanted a headline, and she got it, just not the headline she was expecting.
Can’t Support This
If you recall, Crockett was just on “The View” not too long ago, and they all gushed over her, calling her the future of the party and telling her that she should run for president.
Co-host Joy Behar tried to support Crockett, saying it was all so confusing, but co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin was not having it, responding, “But Joy, this is why people get so frustrated with politicians. Something horrible was done. We all agree on that. Epstein engaged in horrific crimes, but people care more about, well, my team didn’t do it, your team did.”
Co-host Sara Haines then added, “When she said, my team looked into this quickly, when you’re going to throw out an accusation that big, which we all know this case is that big, just own it, say it was a mistake, and move on. Because to then try to say, well, they lie and we don’t lie, again, it’s the distrust in Congress and our politicians.”
I have two issues here. The first is that Collins did not push back while Crockett was going on her rant. Second, you have to think that Crockett made her statement and doubled down because she likely felt the media would stick up for her and have her back. Just own it and it goes away. Why do today’s politicians have such a problem owning up to mistakes and just telling the truth? As I have stated before, the system is broken, and I think it is well beyond being able to be fixed with the current class of people in office.
