Progressives started to challenge establishment Dems in party
It would appear as though there is a changing of the guard of sorts in the Democrat Party taking place.
The Zohran Mamdani win in New York City has socialists bowing up and looking to take over the party.
In all honesty, this is a real threat, not just for the Democrat Party, but for the entire country.
Getting grip
In order to take over an ideology of a country, you have to start small and work your way up, and that is what we are seeing take place right now.
Mamdani started as a city council member, planting his seed, and now he is the mayor of the biggest city in the country.
His recipe is being followed in cities like Minneapolis and Atlanta, where other socialist candidates have won seats on city councils.
To me, this is far more dangerous than having a couple members of Congress who are socialists because it is far easier to make change at that level than it is at the federal level.
CPUSA is back
Those of you in my age bracket will remember the attempted rise of the Communist Party of USA (CPUSA), which died out about four decades ago without ever making much of a dent.
Well, that party now has three people in office in this country at the local level.
CPUSA co-chair Joe Sims stated, “The Communist Party believes that capitalism needs to be replaced fundamentally.” He later added, “Socialists believe they can function within the framework of the Democratic Party.” He continued, “We don’t believe the Democratic Party can be reformed.”
They want to fundamentally change the entire left, and if they do that, the only thing stopping America from becoming another downtrodden socialist country will be the GOP.
Fighting for power
If Democrats were organized and united right now, next year’s election would be an electoral bloodbath, but there is a major leadership battle going on right now for control of the party.
As far left as most Democrats are these days, leadership knows that if socialists take over the party, it will not go well for them, but the socialists are clearly rising up.
Remember Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) having his press conference interrupted and taken over by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the elder of this movement? They are getting bolder and bolder, and we are going to start to see more serious challenges for leadership over the next two election cycles.
That is why I was furious with Trump for having Mamdani in the White House. Trump has to fight him every step of the way because the alternative of him having even a hint of success could damage this country forever. We cannot let socialism win. If Dems won’t fight it, we have to.
