Trump embarking on nationwide tour to promote economic agenda

I really wish I could take credit for this because I have been hammering Trump and the RNC to do this for months.

Trump is about to hit the road and start to visit battleground states to push his agenda.

I think this could be a game-changer for the GOP if Trump does it the right way, but he will have to be willing to eat a little crow for this to work.

Warning Signs

Trump is not in the business of admitting he is wrong or that something is not going as planned, and, unfortunately, we had four years of that with Joe Biden.

I bring that up because we have warning signs that people are not happy with what Trump is doing, or better yet, what he has failed to do in the eyes of the American people.

The first warning sign was the big win by Mamdani in New York City and the two gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia.

Were we expected to win any of these? No. But the RNC and Trump made little effort in those races, and we lost far worse than we should have. And I would make the case that we could have won the NYC and NJ races with some effort.

More Warning Signs

See, Trump made big headway in several different demographics simply by listening to their issues. But then he did what everyone else did. The election was over, and all those people were put on the back burner again.

The next warning sign that Trump was falling short in their eyes was the Tennessee special election, where Republican Matthew Van Epps won but only by about nine points, less than half of the winning margin in 2024 for the same seat.

Keep in mind, Trump won Tennessee by about 30 points in the 2024 election cycle, so a single-digit win is a win in name only. This party is bleeding voters.

Instead of recognizing that, the GOP continues to brush it off as though nothing is wrong.

Getting Back Out There

Democrats have been playing off the Mamdani win to hammer home the message of “affordability.”

Trump calls this fake news, having stated, “I think they are getting fake news from guys like you. Affordability is a hoax. It was started by Democrats, who caused the problems of pricing. And they did not end it.”

Well, with all due respect, Mr. President, I can tell you from my perspective, while some costs have come down, energy has not, rent has not, key groceries have not, and my bank account has been going backward for five straight years.

If Trump does what Joe Biden did and tells people they are doing fine when they are not, the GOP is going to get slaughtered. If Trump is up on that stage, telling people how wonderful everything is, Democrats and the media are going to have charts comparing prices to prove him wrong.

All he has to do is be honest and say it is taking a little longer than expected, but we are getting there, and then share his plan to make it happen. If he does that, I think he starts regaining momentum.

If he goes in the opposite direction, well, he is just going to dig a deeper hole for the GOP in 2026 and 2028. Here is the question… can Trump shelf his ego aside for the good of the cause? We will soon find out.
