Biden-Harris campaigns now have DNC facing $16 million debt

The fiasco that took place between the 2024 Biden and Harris presidential campaigns has crushed the Democrat National Committee (DNC). The DNC is typically flush with cash, but that is not the case anymore.

After absorbing Kamala Harris’ campaign debt, the DNC is now facing $16 million in debt, and most of that can be attributed to Harris and Biden.

The Biden-Harris Debacle

Joe Biden had a considerable war chest when he was in the running, but there was still a lot of money sitting on the sidelines, hoping he would drop out after his disastrous debate with Donald Trump.

When Harris was gifted the nomination, she was also given a $1.5 billion war chest with it.

Somehow, in just 107 days, she managed to blow through that and go into debt by $20 million.

That is a spending spree of about $100 million a week, largely due to her lining the pockets of her liberal friends, such as Oprah, who was paid a small fortune to host a town hall for Harris.

Bailing Out Kamala

After her loss, the DNC decided to bail out Harris and absorb her campaign's debt, but the DNC had to take out loans to do so.

The New York Times reported, “The private agreement was this: The party would pick up the tab for any outstanding 2024 bills, allowing Ms. Harris to claim she did not end the race in debt. In turn, Ms. Harris would raise the money to cover all of those leftover costs, leaving the party whole financially as it sought to navigate the second Trump era.”

Kirsten Allen, a senior adviser to Harris, then commented, "The vice president is committed to building a strong, resilient Democratic Party equipped to fight for the people and shape our future.

“She continues to work hand in hand with the D.N.C. to invest in core infrastructure, grow grass-roots support, and ensure we have the resources to win — not just in the next election, but for years to come.”

In the Red

Reports are now breaking that the DNC is now $16 million in debt, which would not be the case if it had not absorbed Harris’ campaign debt.

However, we should note, even if it did not, the DNC would still be well behind the RNC, which is reportedly flush with about $90 million cash in its accounts.

Another report just broke that the DNC lost money last month, which is hard to believe. And I cannot imagine the situation will get much better with Harris now considering another run.

This is not good news for the Democrat Party because you cannot win races if you don’t have money, and even when you do, as Harris proved in 2024, you also need a decent candidate. Right now, the DNC has neither.
