Crockett doubles down on Epstein narrative
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is everything that she claims Republicans are. She is a glory hound who cares little about the truth, and is more interested in social media stardom than she is in doing her job.
To my point, she has repeatedly made excuses for misinforming people about GOP funding from “a guy named Jeffrey Epstein.”
I was clear
Crockett gave a floor speech in the House, calling out several Republicans and GOP organizations for having taken money from Jeffrey Epstein.
The problem was that she did not properly vet her information.
When she was initially called out on it on CNN, she stated that she had purposely used the term “a” Jeffrey Epstein because she was unsure if it was the notorious pedophile.
The pushback from the media should have been that she never should have used the information unless she was positive, but Crockett kept telling anyone that would listen that it was because she did not have enough time to prepare (then you don’t use the information!).
More excuses
Crockett got some serious airtime over this, and she remained consistently defiant.
In one interview, she had responded, “Listen, I never said that it was that Jeffrey Epstein,” but she surely implied it.
Lee Zeldin, one of the Republicans named by Crockett, responded to her excuses.
He stated, “Yes Crockett, a physician named Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (who is a totally different person than the other Jeffrey Epstein) donated to a prior campaign of mine.”
Not taking it back
The more time that has passed, the more defiant Crockett has become, now offering some new spin on her statement.
In her latest interview, she was asked if she wanted to amend her statement, to which she responded, “I have no amendments.” She continued, “I had maybe 20 minutes. We researched the FEC and, because I like to speak with specificity — that’s kind of what comes with being an attorney — I made clear that there was a Jeffrey Epstein.
“They knew on the other side that I did not have time to actually pull up and actually research, especially since that particular one that Lee Zeldin got up in an uproar about was specifically out of the New York area. We know that he was out of that area and this obviously was not done post Jeffrey Epstein’s life, so I made sure that I said ‘a Jeffrey Epstein.'”
She later admitted that she wanted to imply that it was Epstein, the pedophile, showing the lack of ethics on her part. At the very least, she should have been censured over this. At what point do we start to hold members of Congress accountable to tell the truth to the American people?
