Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino is at a career crossroads, and the decision could shake up an already embattled bureau.

According to sources close to the matter, Bongino is set to decide his future at the FBI within the next few weeks, while facing sharp criticism alongside Director Kash Patel for their leadership and sweeping reforms.

Whispers of Bongino’s potential exit have been swirling, though two sources insist no final call has been made.

Bongino’s Future at FBI Uncertain

Rumors of an empty office at headquarters have been shot down by insiders, who still acknowledge that a departure might be on the horizon.

The tension isn’t just about Bongino’s desk—it’s about the direction of the FBI under his and Patel’s watch.

Since taking their roles earlier this year, both leaders have been under fire, with critics claiming the agency has lost its way.

Criticism Mounts Over FBI Leadership

A stinging report from an alliance of active and retired FBI personnel branded the bureau as “directionless” under the current regime.

Then came a 115-page internal critique, highlighted by New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, slamming Bongino and Patel for their approach since day one.

But Bongino isn’t taking the punches lying down, firing back at Devine’s piece with a sharp jab on social media.

Bongino Defends Reforms With Vigor

“You can always count on Miranda for a timed hit piece when the Director and I make big changes,” Bongino wrote on X, doubling down on his disdain for what he sees as biased reporting.

He didn’t stop there, accusing Devine of peddling “gossipy anecdotes from disgruntled former employees” upset over the overhaul of outdated practices.

Bongino and Patel stand firm, arguing their reforms have sharpened accountability, tightened performance metrics, saved billions, and refocused the FBI on its core mission of protecting Americans.

Restoring Trust or Stirring Discord?

“When the director and I moved forward with these reforms, we expected some noise from the small circle of disgruntled former agents still loyal to the old Comey–Wray model,” Bongino told Fox News, brushing off the backlash.

“That was never our audience. Our responsibility is to the American people,” he continued, emphasizing a mission-first mindset that he claims has delivered results unseen in decades.

While critics paint a picture of chaos, supporters of Bongino and Patel might argue that shaking up a bloated, bureaucratic system is exactly what the doctor ordered—though the jury’s still out on whether the patient will survive the surgery.
