Gabbard warning, sadly, comes to fruition
During her confirmation hearings for the Director of National Intelligence position, Tulsi Gabbard made a statement that went unrecognized.
As it turns out, everyone should have been paying attention because her prediction has just come true.
GOP Worried
Gabbard’s pre-confirmation hearings with Senators did not go very well. Many described her as unprepared and not taking the interviews seriously.
I had reservations about Gabbard, but one thing she had proven to be during her time in office was that she was always prepared, so I was shocked to hear this about her.
After Gabbard’s hearing, the concerns about her only grew, especially since Gabbard appeared to sidestep questions about Edward Snowden, who had leaked classified information, being a traitor.
For instance, when Senator Langford (R-OK) asked her directly about Snowden, Gabbard responded, "I have shown throughout my almost 22 years of service in the military, as well as my time in Congress, how seriously I take the privilege of having access to classified information and our nation’s secrets, and that’s why I’m committed, if confirmed as director of national intelligence, to joining you in making sure that there is no future Snowden-type leak.”
The One Statement
During the hearing, some concerns were also raised about statements made by Gabbard during her congressional career and presidential campaign.
As the questions came in, Gabbard, at one point, responded, "I have no love for Assad or any dictator. I just hate al-Qaeda. I hate that our leaders cozy up to Islamist extremists, calling them ‘rebels,’ as Jake Sullivan said to Hillary Clinton, ‘al Qaeda is on our side in Syria.’ Syria is now controlled by al-Qaeda offshoot HTS, led by an Islamist Jihadist who danced in the streets on 9/11, and who was responsible for the killing of many American soldiers."
People should have paid attention to that statement a bit more because Gabbard appears to have been dead on in her assessment of the terrorist takeover in Syria.
To that point, it is now being reported that roughly 340 civilians have been slaughtered by Syrian security forces and affiliated fighters.
Should Have Listened
Fox News just interviewed an Alawite woman, who stated that the Syrian forces in the region stated, "Alawites are pigs, and they have to execute all of them and the small children before the elderly people."
She also confirmed that the forces murdered the prominent Alawite 86-year-old cleric Shaaban Mansour and his son Hussein Shaaban, a report that had been confirmed by another report on Reuters, saying that Mansour had been killed on Friday, March 7.
The woman added, "I feel there is no safety. There is no homeland. There is nowhere to escape to, and no one to defend us. I feel fear and horrifying feelings."
I have less reservations about Gabbard than I had when she was being confirmed, but I will never question this woman’s intelligence and ability to read a situation, as I thought she was fabulous during the Democrat debates as well as through her congressional career. I clearly did not always agree with her politics, but she rarely pulled punches. It’s just a shame that everyone was more worried about her stance on Snowden than taking heed in her warning about Syria.
