Gaetz drops 2028 election bombshell on Tucker Carlson’s show

I think it goes without saying that most people believe that JD Vance will be the heir apparent to MAGA and the overwhelming favorite to win the nomination for the GOP in 2028. Well, former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is telling everyone to pump the brakes on that for a second.

Gaetz just broke the news that Steve Bannon is going to run in 2028, a move that could split MAGA right down the middle.

The Heir Apparent

Trump has not fully anointed Vance just yet, but the fact that he is serving as Trump’s VP, barring any Pence-like situations, Vance will get Trump’s support.

When Trump was recently asked if Vance was, in fact, the heir to MAGA, he responded, “Well, I think most likely, in all fairness. He’s the vice president.”

Trump then admitted that it is far too soon because a lot can happen over the next three years.

But, as I stated above, as long as Vance stays in Trump’s good graces, I would better dollars to donuts that he gets Trump’s endorsement.

All In on Vance

The other part of MAGA that Vance would need to be successful is the endorsement of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), and he already has that.

Vance was friends with Charlie Kirk, and Erika Kirk adores the man.

Charlie Kirk Show executive producer Andrew Kolvet stated, "We're all in behind Vice President JD Vance. Charlie considered him a generational talent and somebody that could lead this nation forward.”

Erika Kirk added, "We are going to get my husband's friend, JD Vance, elected for 48 in the most resounding way possible.”

Upsetting the Apple Cart

Enter Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon to mess up the anointing of Vance.

Gaetz told Tucker Carlson, “Just like the and I love Steve Bannon, so I don’t want like my our last discussion to come across as a criticism of Steve but I mean he’s going to run for president on the on just a straight, Elizabeth Warren wealth tax economic agenda.”

He continued, “Yeah. He’s going to run for president and say, take the money from those people who have way too much of it, the Bill Ackman of the world. And I want to give it to you.”

Do I think Bannon can win? Absolutely not. And if he runs in the GOP primary, he will get clocked. The real danger, however, is if Bannon runs as an independent because he will draw conservative votes away from JD, handing Democrats an easy win in 2028. Beware, my friends, this is no joking matter.
