GOP picks up 12,000 voters in PA

It is not being dramatic to say everything depends on the upcoming election cycle. As I have stated before, history tells us that the GOP will get smacked silly in this cycle, but there are signs that it may be salvageable.

For instance, a report just broke that the GOP picked up 12,000 voters in Pennsylvania, a state that will play a major factor in whether the GOP holds Congress after the 2026 cycle.

It All Started with Fetterman

When John Fetterman defeated Dr. Oz for the Senate seat in the 2022 cycle, it seemed like Pennsylvania was lost forever.

Fetterman had a reputation as being uber-liberal, more along the lines of someone like AOC, rather than the moderate he has turned into during his time in office.

Fetterman has often sided with the GOP on partisan issues, such as the government shutdown and Israel.

Fetterman also seems to be on board with the narco-terrorist boat strikes, not exactly what we were expecting from a Senator in PA.

The 2026 Race

In the upcoming gubernatorial election, we are seeing a strong Trump influence in the state and its front-running candidates.

With everything that has been going on in the battleground state, it would not be a surprise to see candidates distance themselves from Trump, but the complete opposite is happening.  Virtually every candidate in the running is trying to gain favor with Trump to get his support in the primary and general election.

Trump, in my opinion, backed a very weak candidate in 2022, endorsing state Sen. Doug Mastriano, and the feeling is that the party will try to sway Trump away from that this time around, as they are going to have to face a very strong incumbent in Gov. Josh Shapiro, who is in the 2028 presidential conversation.

Veteran political consultant Christopher Nicholas noted, “I know you reporters love to hang on to the Mastriano thing, but nobody in my camp, my party, takes it seriously that he’s going to run again or be the nominee. He was a disaster as the nominee and we’re not going to go down that road again.”

Making Gains

A promising sign in the state is that the GOP netted a 12,000-voter gain in the state, as the GOP continues to chip away at the edge held by Democrats in Pennsylvania.

In 2016, Democrats had nearly a million more voters in the state than the GOP. Now, the lead is down to less than 50,000.

With slightly more than 8.3 million registered voters in the state, this is huge news for the Republican Party, as it will need as many House seats as it can grab in the 2026 election.

I think Biden and Harris really took a toll on the party, and with Harris appearing to ready herself for another run, it is hard to imagine the voter base getting excited to back her (and she is leading in polling). The one thing that could save the White House and Congress for the GOP is Harris staying active. We still have a monster hill to climb, but this report is very good news for conservatives.
