Harris to Skip Key Charity Dinner Before Election

Kamala Harris is letting everyone know where she stands.

In breaking from a longstanding tradition of both major presidential candidates attending the Al Smith charity dinner, Harris has decided she has better things to do.

She will not be in attendance at the function on October 17.

Big Win for Trump

This is a huge event for Catholics, and winds up being a mini-roast of sorts, but all candidates go through it.

It is good-natured fun, with everyone taking their lumps.

Harris, however, does not take criticism very well and she has quite a bit to choose from for roasters, so she has decided to skip the event, which Trump is likely to attend.

Comedian Jim Gaffigan is slated to host the event, and he surely would have given Harris a break.

Gaffin is on record calling Trump a “liar and a criminal” after Donald Trump’s RNC speech.

Gaffigan confirmed the hosting gig, posting, “I’m so honored to be MC-ing this year’s Al Smith Memorial Dinner on October 17. Too bad I don’t recognize those two names in the middle of the invitation. Anyone ever heard of them?”

Archdiocese spokesperson Joseph Zwilling has confirmed that to this point, Trump is still a go.

Trump gave as good as he got during the 2016 dinner, landing a great shot against Hillary.

At the time, Trump stated, “One of the things I noticed tonight — and I’ve known Hillary for a long time — that this is the first time ever, ever, that Hillary is sitting down and speaking to major corporate leaders and not getting paid for it.”

During the 2020 election cycle, everyone did virtual appearances because of the pandemic, but it will be back to normal this time around.

On Harris skipping the event, Zwilling stated, “We are disappointed that she will not be with us, as this is an evening of unity and putting aside political differences in support of a good cause of helping women and children in need regardless of race, creed, or background.

“We hope she reconsiders.”

She won’t because it would leave her open to criticism with nobody there to protect her, so don’t expect to see Harris change her mind.
