MAGA reacts after Trump-Mamdani White House meeting
Last week, Donald Trump hosted Democrat Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani at the White House.
The meeting ended with a rather comical press conference where Trump and Mamdani appeared to come off as best buds, and Trump said he would be working with Mamdani to help make New York City better.
If I am being honest, the meeting was disappointing to me, so I was curious how MAGA, who generally stands behind all things Trump, would react.
It’s Okay
The press conference after the meeting had everyone talking due to a question that was asked of Mamdani, with Trump sitting right next to him.
Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich asked Mamdani, “[The New York Post’s Steven Nelson] asked about your comment calling the president a fascist, and your answer was, ‘both President Trump and I have been clear about our positions and our views.’ Are you affirming that you think President Trump is a fascist?”
As Mamdani started to skirt around the question, Trump slapped him on the back and told him, “That’s okay, you can just say yes. Okay. That’s easier. It’s easier than explaining it, I don’t mind.”
It was a reaction by Trump that I don’t think many of us were expecting.
Middle Ground
Jenn Pellegrino, Executive Director of Defend Forgotten America, believes the meeting and outcome made perfect sense.
She stated, “President Trump is willing to invite this socialist Democrat, as he calls himself, into the Oval Office, to have a conversation to show to the American people… yeah, there’s a lot we don’t agree on, but I think there are areas where there is common ground, where, you know, they both obviously love New York City, President Trump being from there, and there’s a lot of shared goals there.
“And I think it’s important to be able to have these conversations, despite what the legacy media wants. They want everybody at odds all of the time, and they’re inflaming all these wars, whether it’s within the MAGA-aligned movement or elsewhere.”
The problem, however, is that Mamdani wants to crush business owners with taxes and rely on the federal and state government to fund all these programs, so where exactly is the middle ground?
MAGA Reacts
Trump completely flipped on Mamdani, having said before the election that he is a “100% Communist Lunatic” and “total nut job,” to saying after their meeting, “I think he is going to surprise some conservative people, actually.”
This is the test for MAGA as to whether they stand up for all things Trump or if they were bothered by the meeting. One of Trump’s biggest supporters on X, Johnny Maga, called it an “incredible moment,” adding, “This was such a power move by President Trump.”
DogRightGirl, another big MAGA X personality, added, “Trump is in complete control and relaxed. Mamdani is out of his league and nervous.”
So, I guess we have our answer. I am not taking this the same way. And it’s not that I want to see New York City fail, but I surely don’t want to see Mamdani succeed in any way that could give this socialist movement any grip at all. This is a defining moment in our country’s future, and quite frankly, this terrifies me.
