Media having a problem spinning latest inflation numbers for Trump administration
This week, inflation numbers were announced, then Trump held a national address. As I am sure you can imagine, Democrats were picking him apart.
The one number they could not pick apart, at least initially, was inflation, which was at 2.7%, significantly less than expected.
Less Than Expected
Inflation was expected to come in at 3.1%, which his still relatively low, but it came in much lower.
When the reports hit, the number was 2.7%.
Trump stated, “Very simple, we are making America great again tonight. After 11 months, our border is secure. Inflation is stopped. Wages are up. Prices are down.”
The good news for Trump is that wages on his watch have continued to outpace inflation, but Trump is still seeing challenges in other areas, such as beef and some other staples.
It All Goes Through Gasoline
As you all know, I believe everything goes through the price of gasoline, as most goods need to be transported, and you need gasoline to make that happen.
The price of gasoline over the holiday, according to GasBuddy, has been projected at around $2.79 per gallon, which is about as good as it has been since Trump left office in 2021.
Even so, it will take time for other prices to come down, as there is always a lag.
Not to mention, once retailers know they can raise the price of something, they keep it there, even when the economy is doing better. They would rather allow the economy to catch up to it than go back down.
No Spin
After the inflation report came out, Harvard economist Ken Rogoff seemed upset that there was nothing he could do about it.
He literally stated, "There's no other way to spin it.” He later added, "I was surprised, it was a better number than anyone was expecting. Look, inflation’s been very high. It’s stayed high. It has not been coming down.”
Things have since changed, as some liberal pundits are now accusing Trump of juking the stats, saying that Trump did not include things like beef in the stats because those prices have gone up, while he did include the price of gasoline because it has gone down.
If that is the case, it is going to be a bombshell that Dems will use against him and the Republicans, especially because US Attorney Jeanine Pirro is going after the former DC Chief of Police for having allegedly juked her crime stats. At this point, I honestly don’t know who we can trust.
