Nicki Minaj loses millions of followers, deleted Instagram account after TPUSA appearance
Rapper and reality TV star Nicki Minaj just got a taste of what it is like to be a minority that dares to associate with conservatives. Minaj appeared at the most recent Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event, and it likely cost her a significant chunk of her online earnings.
Millions of her followers left, eventually resulting in Minaj deleting her Instagram account, likely due to trolls coming after her. Sadly, she is far from the first person to see this happen.
Eagles Running Back Saquon Barkley
I grew up in Philadelphia as a Cowboys fan, and I can tell you this fan base is among the most brutal in the country, but they are loyal to their team.
Well, that is, until one of them dares to be friendly with Donald Trump.
Earlier this year, running back Saquon Barkley played a round of golf with Trump in Bedminster, NJ, and it did not go over well with his fans. He was brutally trolled after the round.
Barkley responded, “lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT. Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump ! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day.”
Kim Kardashian
Kardashian got a taste of what TDS is all about during Trump’s first term, working with Trump on some criminal justice cases.
This time around, she decided to post a picture of Melania Trump on her Instagram story, and the trolls came out in force.
One person responded, “idk why i still followed kim kardashian honestly but her posting a pic of melania at the inauguration on her story was like immediate unfollow bye.”
I think that is the difference between liberals and conservatives. I don’t allow politics to get in the way of things that I love. If I did, I would never watch another NFL, MLB, or NHL game again, as well as never go to another concert or movie.
Off Instagram
Minaj appeared at AmericaFest in Arizona last weekend, and nearly 10 million of her followers unfollowed her account after she was on stage with Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, who was recently assassinated.
While on stage, she encouraged the upcoming generation of me to be more like “handsome, dashing” President Trump.
Minaj makes about $1 million a year on Instagram through paid sponsorships, so this is a pretty big deal for her to just delete her account (she has taken social media breaks before, but the loss of 10 million followers is the real story here).
Now, don’t get me wrong, Minaj still had more than 200 million followers, but my guess is that she just got sick and tired of the toxic responses to her appearance. She will likely return, albeit a little lighter in the follow count.
