Rep. Crockett calls Trump ‘enemy to the United States’
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) appears to be the next rock star of the party.
She is blowing up social media, putting out dance videos, and, of course, blasting Donald Trump.
Enemy of the United States
To me, Jasmine Crockett is everything that is wrong with our political system today. She is more interested in creating videos and making outlandish comments on social media than she is in representing the people of this country.
To that point, as Trump’s joint session of Congress speech was approaching, Crockett offered her two cents on Trump and the meeting held with Ukrainian President Zelensky, calling him a "draft dodging [sic] dumb dupe.”
After gushing over Zelensky, she added, "Unfortunately, we have someone that is occupying the White House, and as far as I’m concerned, he is an enemy to the United States.
"He swore an oath just like the rest of us. But right now, when you are literally putting us at risk, all because of what? Because you want to convince your followers that you should be a dictator, too? That you should never leave the White House because you don’t believe that elections should take place?"
Remember when…
Let me bring everyone back to February of 2017, right after Donald Trump had taken office. Trump was already in a battle with the media. When Trump called the media the “enemy of the people,” then-Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) went ballistic.
At the time, he stated, "This is something that you hear tin-pot dictators say. It's not something you have ever heard a president of the United States say. This is something that you hear tin-pot dictators say when they want to control all of the information.”
Schiff later added, "I didn't think I could be shocked anymore by this president, but I have to say, of all the things he has said since he became president, or since the election, this to me was the most devastating and the most alarming. That he essentially views the First Amendment -- because that's what these organizations represent -- as an enemy of the people."
Schiff is now a Senator, and he has not made a single comment about Crockett saying virtually the same thing about a sitting president.
The people speak
While Democrats did not decry her words, social media blew up after Crockett made her comments. I could not help but look at the difference between conservatives and liberals, with the latter encouraging her to run for president.
The former, however, gave her an earful, with Senator Mullin (R-OK) stating, "By all means, continue this leaderless, tired charade and keep losing elections.” Another commented that this was just proof that she was going to run for president in 2028.
Carol Swain, a retired professor commented, "When are we going to hold members of Congress accountable for their words and actions?" Fox News host Laura Ingraham added, "Almost sounds like this ‘defender of democracy’ would support an insurrection.” CNN political commentator Scott Jennings added his two cents, posting, "The unquestioned leader of the Democratic Party. Keep going!”
Sadly, this is the new state of American politics. It’s all about confrontation and sensationalism, and very little to do with the American people. It’s political theater to create stars and collect a six-figure paycheck while establishing book and podcast deals, and maybe a little insider trading to line their pockets. Don’t for one second be fooled into thinking any of these people care about average Americans… because they don’t.
