REPORT: Obama DOJ stalled Uranium One investigation
Going back to the Barack Obama administration, there was a lot of scuttlebutt about the Uranium One deal. At the time, Hillary Clinton was serving as Secretary of State, so, naturally, there was talk about corruption.
A report just surfaced that the Obama DOJ was dragging its feet to help protect Hillary when the investigation into the deal was taking place.
The Deal
The deal involved the sale of mining company Uranium One to Russian state-owned corporation Rosatom.
After the deal was made, it more or less went unnoticed until Peter Schweizer published “Clinton Cash” and an article in the New York Times using his research on the matter.
Fox News host Sean Hannity called it "the biggest scandal — or, at least, one of them — in American history.”
The deal was investigated, and no wrongdoing was ever noted, but now there is a bit of a hiccup in all of that.
The Issues
Where possible corruption comes into play is in favors and money that went to the Clintons.
For instance, numerous investors in the Uranium One deal had coincidentally made some significant donations to the Clinton Foundation right around the same time as the deal went through.
Bill Clinton had also received a speaking engagement in Russia for a cool $500,000.
The FBI reportedly looked into the deal, and while it found some nefarious characters involved in the deal, nothing ever happened to Clinton. Or at least that is what we were told at the time.
Declassified FBI Records
A bombshell report was just dropped on Breitbart that claims the investigation was hot on the trail, but it was shut down by Obama officials.
Schweizer responded to the report, “We broke the Uranium One story back in my 2015 book Clinton Cash. Now it emerges that while federal investigators believed there was ‘significant evidence worth pursuing related to criminal activity,’ Obama officials shut the investigation down.”
The case got started in early 2016, with the report claiming, “According to internal FBI and DOJ records, the investigation, which began in January 2016 with full field and preliminary investigations launched out of the FBI’s Little Rock, New York, and Washington offices, was progressively hindered by DOJ and FBI leadership, including then Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates and then FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.”
The investigation was picked up by the Trump administration and then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions, but nothing ever came of it, and by 2020, it had fizzled out. Now, the interesting thing here is Trump’s inaugural luncheon, where he attempted to bury the hatchet with the Clintons. I really have to wonder why this investigation was not picked up more feverishly on his watch. Something does not smell right. I am just not sure what it is.
