Senator Slotkin not aware of any illegal orders by Trump

Last week, the political world was turned on its ear when a handful of Democrats released a video telling service members to refuse illegal orders by Donald Trump. No orders have been formally questioned, yet they tossed this out there to create chaos over Trump’s drug boat strikes.

Now, one of them has come forward, all but admitting this was nothing more than a political stunt.

Trump calls them out

After the video was released, Trump went ballistic, and I really don’t blame him a bit for it.

He wrote, “It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL,” he then followed that up by stating, “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

Now, some of Trump’s supporters on the site suggested they be hanged, and Trump reposted their comments, which was just not a smart thing to do (reposts these days are the same as posting it originally in the eyes of the media and public). Trump later tried to defuse his comments, saying that they should all be in “serious trouble” and that he was “not threatening them.”

Trump later added, “That was a traitorous statement. That was a horrible thing to do. I believe they broke the law very strongly. I think it’s a very serious violation of the law.”

GOP pushback

It was not surprising at all to see Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) among the Republicans who were upset over Trump’s comments.

Paul has called these strikes illegal from the outset, but if he truly believes that, then take action and challenge the orders.

He, like the Democrats, called Trump out over his comments. He stated, “You know, everybody knows that the president is famous for his unfiltered social media.”

He continued, “But if you take it at face value, the idea that calling your opponents traitors -- and then specifically saying that it warrants the death penalty -- is reckless, inappropriate, irresponsible.”

No illegal order

This weekend, Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), one of the Democrats in that video, was directly asked whether the orders Trump gave were illegal.

She responded, "To my knowledge, I am not aware of things that are illegal, but certainly there are some legal gymnastics that are going on with these Caribbean strikes and everything related to Venezuela.”

So, if Trump did not give any illegal orders, then why did you just tell military members to refuse their orders? These people could literally lose their careers over this, and they would all point to that video for having done it, thinking Slotkin and company would have their backs.

This is beyond dangerous and despicable. They are literally using our military as nothing more than pawns to score political points. If you ask me, they should all be removed from office for this. But, unfortunately, I don’t make the rules.
