Trump ends Biden work visa permit program
When Biden was in office, he instituted an automatic renewal for work visa permits.
Well, Trump just ended that program.
Not only that, but Governor DeSantis just put an end to H-1B workers taking jobs at Florida’s universities.
Give Them a Job
This all came down to a government that was not working quickly enough, so Biden took the easy way out by automatically extending work visas.
The American Immigration Council reported, “On December 13, the Biden administration issued a permanent rule that automatically extends the validity of certain work permits by up to 540 days if they are timely renewed.
“The American Immigration Council and many other organizations and businesses made this a key ask to the outgoing administration to protect workers from employment gaps as U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) continues to address its processing backlogs. This final rule is effective starting on January 13, 2025.”
Conservatives were fuming, especially since the Biden administration had been handing out work visas to many of the illegals it allowed entry into the country.
It’s Over
This week, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Joseph Edlow announced that the holiday was over for that program.
He stated, “USCIS is placing a renewed emphasis on robust alien screening and vetting, eliminating policies the former administration implemented that prioritized aliens’ convenience ahead of Americans’ safety and security.
“It’s a commonsense measure to ensure appropriate vetting and screening has been completed before an alien’s employment authorization or documentation is extended. All aliens must remember that working in the United States is a privilege, not a right.”
I see nothing wrong with this additional vetting process, especially when you consider how lax vetting was when Biden was in office.
DeSantis Follows Suit
As he has done throughout this presidency, Governor DeSantis is once again supporting Trump’s immigration crackdown with a ban of his own.
DeSantis announced that he will no longer allow state schools to hire H-1B visa workers, stating, “We can do it with Florida RESIDENTS or AMERICANS! If we can't? Then man, we need to REALLY look deeply at what's going on with this situation!"
He added, “Why do we need to bring someone from CHINA to talk about public policy? I am directing today the Florida Board of Governors to PULL THE PLUG on the use of these H-1B visas at our universities."
Get those safe spaces ready because the entire left is going to need them when word of this gets out.
