Trump set to address Congress less than 2 months into office

As you are reading this report, Donald Trump is likely putting the finishing touches on his speech to the country before Congress.

Because Trump has not been in office for a full year, it will not be considered an official State of the Union, but make no mistake… that is how this is being treated.

Democrat Resistance

Democrats have been showing resistance to Trump since he retook office.

They were given a wake-up call in the 2024 election, but they continue to push back against Trump’s orders, all of which Trump forewarned during the election.

Democrat leadership has already issued a message to show resistance during Trump’s upcoming speech, but a significant contingent of high-profile Democrats believe skipping the speech sends a better message.

Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), both former presidential candidates in primary races, have stated they will not attend.

Stew in His Juices

We all remember Nancy Pelosi shredding Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech behind him when he delivered it in February 2020.

Pelosi later explained that as Trump was giving his speech, she would make a tear on the page where Trump had lied, continuing, “Then, when I saw that every page was a lie, I had to tear it up.”

Pelosi is not among those who are boycotting the speech by Trump, as she has confirmed she will be in attendance. She added, “Any demonstration of disagreement, whether it’s visual or whatever, just let him stew in his own juice. Don’t be any grist for the mill to say this was inappropriate.”

The irony in all of this is that Democrats were furious when Republicans pushed back during Obama and Biden SOTU addresses, but they are clearly making a plan to disrupt Trump during this speech.

Getting Ready

Donald Trump has been moving fast and furious during his first two months in office, and he has even forced the hand of some of our allies after his little tiff with Ukrainian President Zelensky.

Trump has threatened to cut off aid to Zelensky, which sent to Zelensky to the EU begging for help. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has since stated that the UK will take the lead, adding, "Let me be clear, we agree with Trump on the urgent need for a durable peace. Now we need to deliver together.

"The U.K. is prepared to back this with boots on the ground and planes in the air. Together with others, Europe must do the heavy lifting. But to support peace in our continent and to succeed, this effort must have strong U.S. backing.”

Well, in case he has missed it, the United States has done most of the backing of this war, so maybe it is time for the countries that are far more impacted by this war to step up. Thus far, the United States has contributed more aid to Ukraine than all other nations combined. So, go ahead, Prime Minister, take the lead.
