Vance takes center stage on MN fraud
I think most of us would agree that JD Vance has not been a typical vice president in terms of engaging the media and being at the forefront of policy.
Now, he has been a bit quiet as of late, but that all changed with the ICE shooting and the fraud in Minnesota. Not only is Vance back out in front of the cameras, but he is taking the lead on getting to the bottom of the fraud.
The Shooting
While I am fairly sure the White House had all the video long before it went public, as it has been trickling down through outlets, it did not take very long for the administration to back the officer in the shooting.
Vance pushed the “attack” narrative, and having seen more footage, it is hard to argue.
He posted to X, stating, "Every congressional democrat and every democrat who's running for president should be asked a simple question: Do you think this officer was wrong in defending his life against a deranged leftist who tried to run him over?”
Vance added, “These people are going to try to arrest our law enforcement for doing their jobs. The least the media could do is ask them about it.”
A Joke
Vance then moved on to the fraud that has been exposed in Minnesota, tearing apart Governor Tim Walz in the process.
Vance stated, "Look, Tim Walz is a joke. His entire administration has been a joke.
"The idea that he's some sort of freedom fighter, he's not. He's the guy who has enabled fraud and maybe, in fact, has participated in fraud.”
Vance later added, "I don't care what Tim Walz says. I care about getting to the bottom of this fraud for the American people."
New Unit
Then Vance really dropped the hammer, announcing that the Department of Justice was launching a new investigative unit that would concentrate on fraud.
He announced, “We are creating a new assistant attorney general position who will have nationwide jurisdiction over the issue of fraud.”
He continued, “That person’s efforts will start and focus primarily in Minnesota, but it is going to be a nationwide effort, because, unfortunately, the American people have been defrauded in a very nationwide way.”
Now, I love this idea, but I also want to know why Congress has not been doing its job on this front. We have two committees in the House dedicated to oversight and monitoring funding from the federal government, yet they apparently knew nothing about this until Nick Shirely regurgitated a couple of New York Times pieces and had a local whistleblower walk him around town.
