Vikings announcer steps away from radio show after protest comments
You would think that by now, most media personalities would learn that you cannot say anything negative about liberals or you wind up getting canceled. Minnesota Vikings announcer Paul Allen did not get that memo and found out the hard way that once it’s out there, your career is over.
Allen commented on paid protesters getting hazard pay during the cold weather, and now his days of hosting a radio show are over.
Simple question
I am astonished at how upset people get over humor these days, even when it is based on fact.
To that point, Allen was discussing the weather on his show when he stated, “In conditions like this, do paid protesters get hazard pay? Those are the things that I’ve been thinking about this morning.”
A few minutes later, he used the term again, stating, “Everybody’s catching strays this week. [Brian] Flores, Kevin Stefanski from Baker [Mayfield], Charlie ‘Biyatch’ caught one out of nowhere. They’re just all over, paid protesters caught one this morning.”
The outrage was immediate.
Pushing back
One of the first to react to his comments was Mike McFeely, who responded on social media, stating, "Good God. Done with @KFAN1003 and the @Vikings. Screw these guys. The city that made @PAOnTheMic is under siege and he's spewing this garbage. Clown show. Christian, my a--.”
So, here’s the thing… the people outraged by his comments are the very same people who were defending Jimmy Kimmel for his comments about the Charlie Kirk shooting.
If you were upset about Kimmel being removed from the air, how can you advocate for Allen to be removed?
Yet, that is exactly what is happening right now.
The apology
After the outrage over his comments, Allen issued an apology on his show on Monday, stating, "Good morning. I made a comment on air Friday about protesters and the weather that was insensitive and poorly timed. And I'm sorry. It was a misguided attempt at humor.
“And while it was never meant with any ill intent or political affront, I absolutely and wholeheartedly want to apologize to those who genuinely were hurt or offended by it.”
That is far more than Kimmel's offering, but it meant little to the liberal horde. He then announced that he would take a break from the show, adding, "My best was lacking Friday and for that I am sorry. I am taking a few days off but wanted to express these thoughts and my sincere apology with you before I do. We thank our friend Paul Charchian for handling 'Nine to Noon' today." The radio station, KFAN, has yet to say if Allen will be disciplined.
Remember, this is all about a level playing field for me. If you were not outraged by the Kimmel statements, I don’t want to hear you on your soapbox now.
